About Me
Who I am, why this place exists, and what lives here.
I’m JFerniz, I’m 24 years old, I live in Monterrey, Mexico, and honestly, I feel happy with my life 💚
I have the fortune of having amazing parents who support me in my decisions, two brothers I love so much.
I studied Game Design and Production at XP Facultad de Videojuegos, which honestly was the career I wanted to study.
Right now, I’m studying a Master’s Degree in Video Game Production and Development at Instituto de Estudios Superiores Spenta México, and I’m also specializing in CG Asset Portfolio Pre-Production and Production at Think Tank Training Centre, focused on character and creature creation for games.
So yeah, videogames and 3D art are a huge part of my life.
I’m a Creature Artist, 3D artist, and co-founder of Dreamers Made, a creative studio I started with my brother. In Dreamers Made, we create custom collectibles, figures, characters, and physical pieces using 3D modeling, 3D printing, design, and a lot of creativity.
I also have two cats. One is called Tim, because of Avicii, and the other one is called Nugget, because he is orange hahaha.
At this point in my life, there’s no girl in my life. I’m still looking for my one, but there’s nothing to rush. I’ve learned a lot of things through the path of my life. I’ve made great decisions, I’ve made bad decisions, I’ve gotten angry at some people, I’ve felt sad about some situations, but at the end, all those things that happened to me helped make me who I am.
I haven’t had a perfect life, but who has?
I think I’m a risky person, with a strong perspective and a strong focus on the things I want. When I really want something, I chase it until the end. That mindset has made me work a little bit more than the rest sometimes, trying to understand why I keep going, getting burned out so many times, and having a lot of sleepless nights.
I’m going to be honest, it is a hard way to live if you don’t manage yourself correctly.
And an important lesson I learned from my parents, teachers, and friends is to chill in life. Don’t forget to enjoy it. When you have to work harder than anyone, it doesn’t mean you have to kill yourself in the process.
Because of that, I started developing new hobbies.
Of course, I have my working hours for my current job, my business, and school, but I also have some things that I don’t want to exchange. Like going hiking every Sunday, walking 10 thousand steps every day, seeing my friends at least once per week, and having time for myself.
In my case, I have two main activities to disconnect from anything:
- Videogames
- Writing
I’ve loved playing videogames since I barely have memory. I mostly play on Steam as a PC user, and recently I bought a Switch 2, so I’ve been spending a great time with it whenever I’m free and just want to relax.
My favorite games are:
- Monster Hunter series
- God of War series
- Resident Evil series
- Pokémon series
Yeap, in that order.
I do watch movies and series, but I’m not really the kind of person who spends too much time watching something. I’m an active guy, so I like to move, dance, sing, play, or even think hahaha. When I’m with my friends, a lot of them ask me why I’m never still, and the reason is that I just can’t. It’s part of myself.
When I watch series or movies, it’s usually because I want to see something while eating or because I’m bored. I usually go back to the same things, like Coraline, the Spider-Verse movies, Scary Movie, or something from Pixar.
And the two series I watch all the time are How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory.
The Big Bang Theory is GORGEOUS.
I’ve watched it so many times that I can work while listening to the series and know every scene without getting distracted. When my friends talk about one episode, I know exactly what scene they’re talking about hahaha. I’m such a big fan of The Big Bang Theory.
My other new hobby is writing, but specifically writing in a coffee shop. Spending one or two hours writing, thinking, and drinking coffee is such a guilty pleasure of life.
By the way, I’m an espresso americano guy.
Music for me is very selective because I have to connect with the artist. It would take a lot to explain, but I’m a huge Juice WRLD and Avicii fan.
The artists I listen to are:
- Juice WRLD
- Avicii
- XXXTENTACION
- Lil Peep
- The Kid LAROI
- Post Malone
- Imagine Dragons
- Twenty One Pilots
Especially Juice WRLD and Avicii mean a lot to me because their music was with me in moments when I needed it.
One thing I still feel bad about is that there was a time when Avicii came to Monterrey and a friend invited me. I wanted to go, but I was too young and I was shy to tell my parents that I wanted to see him. I was shy back then, and I still am, but not as much hahaha. So I only mentioned it, but I didn’t say the day, the price, or anything. It was like a “new...” and that was it.
A few years later, Avicii was found dead, and that really broke my heart in that moment...
I discovered Juice WRLD thanks to the Spider-Verse movie. I was listening to the soundtrack after watching the movie months before, and I remember that while I was listening to “Hide” on YouTube, it showed me another song from him, “Robbery.”
Man, I fell in love with that guy and his music.
A few hours later, after listening to a lot of his songs, I searched for him on Google.
It had been two months since he passed away.....
I remember that day felt so weird. A lot of feelings for a guy I barely knew, but it was so much talent that was just gone.
I have tattoos for both of them. I have 999 on my left wrist and the Avicii logo on my right chest. I’m a loyal fan because I really like them. I listen to other music too, and of course a lot of it sounds great, but I don’t know, someone always returns to where they were happy, and I feel great with their music, honestly.
There’s a lot more that I want to tell hahaha, but I think I’ll save the rest for future posts.
So yeah, this is A Little Bit of My Normal Life.
This blog is my personal space on the internet. A place where I share pieces of my life, thoughts, hobbies, projects, reviews, creativity, and the process of changing my routine while building something new for myself.
It’s my little corner to write about what I’m living, what I’m learning, what I’m creating, what I enjoy, and sometimes even the random things that happen in my normal life.
Thank you for being here and becoming part of this space.
Like we say on Mexico:
My home is your home 💚
