Watching Alone a Horror Movie at Midnight in a theater.... đź‘»
May 18, 2026

I wanted to write this post early Saturday morning, but I fell asleep hahaha.

Also, this weekend was mostly focused on my business with my brother because we have a project that needs to be finished this weekend, so that’s why the post got delayed.

But it’s okay. I’m not planning to write every day.

I’m planning to publish posts whenever I feel like it and whenever I have something to share.

I want to share something that, for me, was a first-time experience hahaha.

I have a couple of friends who love doing this, but I don’t know, I had never really tried it before.

Since two months ago, I had saved a movie called Obsesion on my calendar.

I only knew it was a horror/thriller movie and that it sounded interesting to me. I saw a post about it on Facebook, and that was basically all I knew hahaha.

Since the release of Silent Hill 2026, that movie was originally going to be my first movie alone, but one of my closest friends also loves the Silent Hill saga, so we went together.

And thank God he came with me because it was a really bad movie hahaha.

I still laugh a lot thinking about that moment because when the movie finished, the first thing I told him was:

“Sorry for inviting you.”

Hahahaha because it was a bad movie, but bad bad.

If you are a Silent Hill fan, or even if you are not, I really don’t think you would like it.

And I’m sure about that because my parents and my brother watched it later, and I told them they wouldn’t enjoy it, but they still wanted to see it.

I made my part by warning them, but if they don’t listen to my honest opinion, what can I do? hahaha.

Well, getting back to the point of the story, this week I planned to watch Obsesion alone.

In my social circle, my mom and I are the ones who really love horror movies, but my parents were out of the city, so I was excited because I wanted to watch this one alone at the cinema.

All afternoon I spent it with my brother working on the project we had, so I was waiting until 10:00 PM to drive to the cinema because it was going to take me like 30 minutes.

I arrived around 10:20 PM, and the movie was supposed to start at 10:30 PM, but with the trailers it was probably going to start around 10:50 PM.

I was already inside the cinema, and I didn’t buy popcorn because I didn’t want to eat anything that late.

So I only arrived with my bottle of water.

(I regret that decision)

Then it was like 11:20 PM and the movie still hadn’t started.

The screen was still turned off, but the audio from the trailers was playing.

The movie technically started at 11:30 PM, but what do you think?

Yeap, still not watching anything.

It was only the audio playing. :/

By the way, the Spanish dub was horrifying hahaha, really bad.

I also regretted not buying popcorn because there were people near me eating some and I could smell it, so yeah, I regretted it hahaha.

I was bored inside the cinema, but it was okay because I was playing Pokémon Go hahaha.

I know, I’m so addicted.

Finally, the movie screen turned on, but 5 minutes later the image froze ._.

They played the movie again from the start, so the movie started for real around 11:40 PM.

My General Thoughts Without Spoilers

But at least it was an interesting thriller movie.

I thought it was going to be more horror, but not really.

The story is basic, but in my opinion, they executed it well.

Yeah, you can infer the ending since the start hahaha, but it has some good moments.

I actually enjoyed it, and saying that about the last horror/thriller movies I’ve seen means a lot hahaha.

I had hope for this movie and, for me, it surpassed those expectations.

The Characters

The movie has Bear as the protagonist, a shy guy (not the Nintendo one hahaha), and for me he was the worst part of the movie hahaha, because he is such an idiot character.

The plot of the movie is that he finds something that can make a wish come true.

He wishes that his friend falls in love with him, but he doesn’t know the consequences of his wish.

Nikki, who is the girlfriend, is a really great character in the movie.

She is the most interesting one, and she has to be.

Compared to other movies, the main “villain” sometimes is not interesting enough, but in this case, the actress really does a great job.

She makes you feel uncomfortable most of the time.

It is like a roller coaster of emotions because from the start you know that she isn’t okay, and from the start she has that same crazy energy that she has by the end.

Of course, the protagonist is an idiot hahaha, and in Spanish, the voice actor makes him so insufferable.

In some moments Nikki feels more reasonable than Bear because he makes the worst decisions from the start.

Yeah, he fucked up with a wish, but he makes so many more bad decisions that the wish almost feels like nothing hahaha.

Ian, Bear’s friend, is also an idiot hahaha.

Same as Bear, he is a selfish character without any real contribution to the plot.

He is just the stupid selfish friend of the protagonist and that’s it.

The second best character for me is Sarah.

She feels like a true friend of the protagonist and she has more relevance in the story.

She knew that something was strange with the protagonist and his girlfriend, and she really tried to make sure that her friend was okay.

It also feels balanced between her and Nikki, while the idiot characters are Bear and Ian hahaha.

Also, that makes you feel a lot of different emotions through the movie.

You feel scared, angry, confused, uncomfortable, and even sorrow.

Would I Recommend It?

I can recommend you this movie.

I don’t watch a lot of movies, but I think it is okay if you watch it.

Now I will talk with a few spoilers down here, so if you don’t want to see spoilers, this is the time to close the post and come back later when you want to read it.

I will insert an image of a cat as the warning...

SPOILERS

.

At the start of the movie, I saw that the protagonist had an Android phone.

Thanks to those curiosity channels I watched in the past, I remembered one thing: when a person in a movie has an iPhone, that person is usually the good one and will probably not die.

So when I saw that detail at the start of the movie, I was like:

“Okay, this guy is going to die by the end.”

Hahaha.

I don’t watch a lot of movies, and this was the first time I actually noticed something like that while watching one.

Bear

For me, the protagonist was soooo frustrating to watch because he made the worst decisions ever.

He changed the personality of the person he supposedly loved, and then he only cared about having sex with her???

Like, all the movie he was scared of her, but when he had sex with her, not anymore??

Man, I would be scared of her.

If I knew my girlfriend was crazy as fuck like that, I would be scared of her giving me a bite on you know where hahaha, or something like that.

I understand that the wish he asked for was purely impulsive, and for real, no one would immediately think about the worst-case scenario.

But still, how would you make that wish happen without all that craziness from the girlfriend if you were the protagonist?

Because the protagonist, and probably everyone watching the movie, wanted that love to be real.

I was thinking that the best possible way to make the wish, knowing how the rule in the movie works, would be something like:

“Make her love for me start growing slowly and naturally, while she still stays herself. Don’t make her obsessed with me, and if it doesn’t work, then both of us can live our lives and that’s it.”

Because I would not force someone to love me, even if I had a wish.

I know for me it is important to find my one hahaha.

You know? It’s like finding your Amy if you are Sheldon.

If you just wish it into existence, it loses all the effort and becomes the cheat way.

And yeah, some people would probably take it, but for me, I don’t see it that way.

Nikki

Another thing I want to mention is that the actress who played the crazy girlfriend was so great.

She really scared me with some of her reactions, and even in Spanish, her screams made me feel uncomfortable and freaked me out sometimes.

My favorite character was the girlfriend because she really made the movie interesting.

Ian

The friend was an idiot since the start.

Clearly, he liked the girl the protagonist was in love with, but he didn’t have the nuts to tell him.

And even after the protagonist told him the wish he asked for, the dumb friend asked for a billion dollars.

But why??

Help your friend, asshole hahaha.

Then he died literally 5 minutes after making that wish.

Sarah

My second favorite character was Sarah.

Man, her death was so intense.

It was the only moment that really scared me for real because you knew something was going to happen, but the way the girlfriend arrived and killed her was so intense.

I really felt bad for that character because she was the only one who truly cared about her friend.

And yeah, she liked him, but she still cared for him as a friend.

But the protagonist is such an idiot.

Also, why did he go back to his home at the end??

My Thoughts

So yeah, those were my impressions of the movie hahaha.

Do you think something similar about my “review” hahaha?

I can recommend it.

I don’t watch a lot of movies, but I think it is okay if you watch it.
